Here at USMC, we have a very simple Attention Procedure. This is one of the major and one of the most important procedures we have here at the United States Marine Corps. We have two commands that everybody is expected to follow and abide by. ATTENTION PROCEDURE When an officer enters through the Sentry or when an Attention is called by an Officer, you must stand in the HQ behind your seat. You cannot talk or move, you must also drop any hand items you may be holding as a sign of respect. You must not sit down and carry on duties till you hear "At Ease", "Carry On" or "As you were". When you hear this command, you can go back to what you were doing.
ATTENTION ON DECK PROCEDURE Attention on Deck will be used when a Flag Grade Officer (Brigadier General+) comes in through the Sentry. Like the Attention procedure, EVERYONE in the HQ except from the AFK area is required to stand behind your seat and do not talk or move, you must also drop any hand items you may have. You may carry on with normal duties when you hear "At Ease", "Carry On" or "As you were".
Failure to stand up for Attention/AoD will get you warned. You may also get kicked from the room and if it happens multiple times MP may take disciplinary action.
